Tahir Mahmood

Tahir Mahmood is a well-known legal scholar and a profile author specializing in the laws of family relations, comparative law and the fast-growing discipline of law and religion studies. He has received several national and  international honours including a prestigious academic award for "Outstanding Contribution of Contemporary Understanding of Muslim Law."

He has in the past been Dean of the Faculty of Law at Delhi University, Chairman of national Commission for Minorities and Member of the law Commission of India. Currently he is Professor of Eminence and Chairman of Institute of Advance legal Studies in Amity University.

To celebrate his pioneering works and performance spanning over half a century a festschrift in his honour titled Religious-State Relations and Family Right Was published in March 2021.
