Ahuja V.K.

Senior Professor (Dr.) V.K. Ahuja, Director of the Indian Law Institute, is a distinguished legal scholar with over thirty years of teaching and research experience. He holds a Ph.D. and LL.M. from the University of Delhi and an M.Phil. from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). He has done a Certificate Course on Law Teaching and Legal Research Skills from Cardiff University, UK. Before joinining as Director of the Indian Law Institute, Professor Ahuja has also worked as Vice-Chancellor or National Law University and Judicial  Academy, Assam (2021-2024). Professor Ahuja is Senior Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. He has also served as Joint Director of Delhi School of Public Policy and Governance, established under Institute of Eminence (IOE), University of Delhi (2020-2022). He has also Served as Professor In-Charges of Law Centre-II, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, Delhi (2017-2020). An expert in intellectual Property Rights, International Law, and Mediation, he has authored five books, including Krishna and Mediation, and two volumes of Halsbury Annotated Statutes of India (Lexis Nexis). He has co-authored the Handbook on Geographical Indications (With Special Focus on North-East India), published 50 research articles, and contributed to 17 book chapters. He has successfully supervised 9 Ph.D. scholars and 38 LL.M. students. Professor Ahuja has served on the UGC Committee for multidisciplinary law education (2022) and the NAAC Discipline Committee (2024) for accreditation guidelines. He was Regional Coordinator for CLAT (North-East, 2021-2023) and part of CLAT Consortium committees.

He has held governance roles at the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam, Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University, and the Governing Bodies of Hindu College and Aryabhatta College, University of Delhi. As a NAAC Assessor , he has chaired multiple Peer Review Committees. A sought-after speaker, he has delivered lectures at Judicial Academies, WIPO courses, UGC programs, and international conferences.
